Body and Shadow Framed Wall Art
The shadow points somewhere. Don’t stop before you reach the One who casts it.
Body and Shadow brings Colossians 2:17 into a vintage engraved scene overlooking Jerusalem. Christ stands above the city while His shadow stretches across the foreground, gathering the images of food, drink, new moons, festivals, and Sabbaths. Nearby, a scholar bends over his books and scrolls, examining the details while the One who gives them meaning stands before him.
The words beneath the scene explain the relationship: “These are a shadow of the things to come, but the body that casts it belongs to Christ.” These observances pointed forward to Him. Their purpose finds its fulfillment in the Savior they anticipated.
I wanted this design to picture how easily we can become absorbed in the signposts and lose sight of their destination. Studying Scripture matters, and its details deserve our attention. But our hope rests in Christ Himself—the One to whom those shadows point, who has come to accomplish our salvation.
