One Race Hoodie
Apparently, some people need a color chart to recognize their neighbors.
One Race puts Galatians 3:28 on the front: “There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” Our standing in Christ rests on Him, without a preferred ancestry, skin tone, or social rank.
The back turns our obsession with sorting people into a cartoon. Self-appointed classifiers arrive with skin-tone swatches, measuring tools, charts, and barriers, while the people they are trying to categorize simply enjoy one another’s company. Beneath the scene, the message is plain: “There is one race. Humanity.”
I wanted the humor to expose how absurd—and harmful—it is to reduce a person to a category on somebody else’s chart based on immutable characteristics. Our differences are real, but they do not establish different degrees of humanity or human worth. We share a common humanity, and those who belong to Christ share a unity that our divisions cannot improve upon. Love your neighbor. You shouldn’t need a measuring tape to figure out who that is. We are all image bearers of the one true God. As such, we each have inherent, inestimable value.
